Vermont Mixed Hardwood Estate
A 500-acre multi-generational family forest generates new revenue streams while preserving legacy values.
The Challenge
The Henderson family had owned this Vermont woodlot for four generations but faced significant estate tax exposure. They wanted to generate income without compromising the forest they'd carefully stewarded for over 80 years.
Our Solution
We conducted a comprehensive LiDAR survey that revealed 23% more merchantable timber than previous estimates, including a 40-acre section of valuable black walnut. We enrolled the property in our carbon credit program while developing a selective harvest plan for the most valuable timber.
The Results
Timber Revenue
Carbon Credits
Estate Tax Savings
"The LiDAR mapping revealed timber value we didn't know existed. Their carbon credit program now generates $15,000 annually from our 200-acre woodlot."
